The Rising: Chapter 6Chapter 6- Fools Paradise
Ethon awoke several hours later, lying in the exact same spot he has passed out. The birds were chirping again, something that he hadnt heard since entering the Black Forest. He lay still for a moment, letting his once again aching muscles throb. After a minute of rest, Ethon propped himself up on his elbows, scanning the area for any signs of Amarok. Ethon didnt remember anything from the night before, other than being attacked and passing out. He noticed on the ground around him, grayish powder lay scattered. Upon closer inspection, Ethon found that the powder was ash. From what? Amarok?
What? he muttered to himself, completely unknowing of the truth. Ethon stood and dusted himself off, to little avail, since the ash rubbed into his clothes. He began to walk, following the sound of the brook again. Pride surged through him when he found it in less than five minutes. The young wolf followed the path again, walking along th
The Rising: Chapter 5Chapter 5- The Wolf Is Loose
Ethon trekked through the darkened trees, trying to focus on what was in front of him. He was having trouble seeing in the dim lighting. Only a few areas of the forest were lit, where moonlight shone through bare patches in the trees. Ethon felt anxious and apprehensive as he walked, feeling like there was something tugging at the back of his mind. Something was telling him that he shouldnt be here.
There, hunts Amarok. You must remember, never pass through the Black Forest at night.
Master Kadiks voice echoed in Ethons mind and he remembered. It had been so long since leaving Megiddo, that Ethon completely forgot what Kadik had told him, until now. Looking around cautiously, he took another step. Ethon had heard of Amarok before; the vicious white wolf that hunted anyone foolish enough to enter his territory alone. Ethon shivered at the thought, chills shooting up his spine.
Better get outta here
The Rising: Chapter 4Chapter 4- Adapt
Ethon awoke the next morning to the sound of birds chirping and singing. Their soft melody was a comforting sound in his ears, which were still ringing after hearing his own sobs and screams in the past night. He pushed himself off the ground and slowly stood, his tired and sore muscles cramping. Ethon winced in pain and leaned against the wall, trying to relax his muscles.
After a moment's pause, Ethon's body loosened up again and he took his first steps out of the cave that had been his shelter for the night. The sun glistened through the dew-covered leaves that hung overhead and Ethon squinted, taking in his surroundings. He picked up his katana, strapped it to his waist and began walking in the direction he had the other night, following the river upstream. As he walked, Ethon noticed a group of green bushes with small yellow blossoms. Honeysuckle food. Ethon rushed over and rapidly began picking and eating the blossoms. Before long, everything was gone
The Rising, Chapter 3Chapter 3- The First Night
It had seemed like hours that Ethon had been walking north. He had no clue as to exactly where Blood Mountain was, but he had a gut feeling that Master Kadik was right in his assumption that the trek would last three long years. Ethon stopped walking and sat on a nearby log, looking around the forest for the first time. Though the lush green was beautiful, Ethon knew that in coming years, it would become an inescapable prison. He had nowhere to go but forward, towards Blood Mountain.
Ethon's stomach growled and the young wolf pressed his hands to his abdomen in discomfort. It had been at least a day since he'd last eaten and he knew that he had to search for food. Ethon stood and started walking again, following the distant sound of a brook. Through a clearing, Ethon found the source of the noise: a crystal clear, babbling brook. Ethon's spirit lifted as he stood in the middle of the icy cool, ankle deep water and waited for a fish to swim by. He spotted a la
The Rising, Chapter 2Chapter 2- Embarkment
Ethon stood at the villages edge, staring into the deep, green forest that awaited him. Kadik stood by his side, staring in with him. Ethon shrugged his shoulder, readjusting the strap of his knapsack. All he had with him was his katana and the knapsack which was filled with just a thin blanket and a few personal items. Neither Ethon nor Kadik saw Garrett and Jade watching from afar, Garrett laughing to himself over Ethons departure. Kadik took the time to instruct Ethon as to his quest.
You will go north, and only north until you reach a steep hill, riddled with trees. That is the Black Forest. There, hunts Amarok. You must remember, never pass through the Black Forest at night. After the forest, you will come to a river. Follow it to a giant lake. In this lake, dwells the megalodon. You must get out of the lake as soon as possible unless you want to become his next victim. Once you are past the lake, you must climb Blood Mountain, where the beh
